About This Image

The 13th Amendment Signers Photograph, die-cut oval on the remaining card stock. I have never seen this composite image in this large a size. It is typically found in carte-de-visite size, and the largest known views are normally only 8 x 7 in. and they are scarce. This photograph is a whopping 16-1/8 x 13-3/4 in., or four times the size of other large views of this collage. The collage of politicians shows President Lincoln at the bottom, Vice President Hannibal Hamlin at the top, and Speaker of the House Schuyler Colfax at center. On the outer image are 38 Senators, then the Congressmen are shown on the inner area.

The 13th Amendment to the Constitution declared that "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." Formally abolishing slavery in the United States, the 13th Amendment was passed by the Congress on January 31, 1865, and ratified by the states on December 6, 1865.

Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
