About This Image
Signed, titled and dated in pencil on verso. # 1/10.
Malgorzata Florkowska, a native of Poland, earned her Master's Degree in Economics at Poznan Economic University, in Poland. In 1984 she moved the United States. She is a self-taught photographer and has been pursuing photography for the last eight years.
Her new life in Georgia exposed her to red clay and the farming community.
Photojournalist Florkowska captures images of the rural south, including its people, animals, landscapes, plants and rural structures. Her passion is to preserve unique images that will provide a meaningful experience for her viewers and, hopefully, take them to the places that they would never be able to go themselves.
In 2007 her photograph "Ties that Bind" won the first place in the SlowExposures Juried Exhibition. In 2008 she organized and curated "Horsing around" a photography exhibit of horses and equine-related subjects. In 2009 she published her first book "The Joy of Farming". She judged the Puppy Love Show in 2010.
Her photographs have been shown in group exhibitions in galleries around Atlanta. In September 2010, her second solo show at J. Michel's Gallery and Frame, in Griffin, GA, was the satellite show of the SlowExposures program.
