| Description: Aperture, New York, 1983. First edition. Folio. Photo-illustrated stiff wraps, near fine. With an essay by Gholam-Hossein Sa'edi. The images for the book, with the assistance of a small grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, were taken during a five-week period from December 1979 to January 1980. They first appeared in a ten-page layout in "Afterimage" and then in the New York Times and in this first edition by "Aperture". One of the finest photojournalist books ever published. Chosen by Andrew Roth as one of the 101 Seminal Photographic Books of the Twentieth Century, See "The Book of 101 Books", pages 246-247. Usually found in shabby condition, this is a lovely copy. Very scarce in this condition for the first edition. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania and New York buyers must pay appropriate sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges. |
