| Description: This came with an old typed index card that reads: "2 sixth-plate daguerreotypes from the Scott family of Ashton, Maryland. The Scotts were doctors in the 19th century." Inside the case it reads: "Lewis Booth, age 18=1864." But this makes little sense because not only is the mat earlier but so is the case with its simple mauve silk cushion. Perhaps Mr. Scott or Mr. Booth was tasting some of his own elixer. It is an intriguing image with the jaunty young man leaning his head against his hand, his jacket cuff button undone. The cork on the bottle has obviously been loosened. There are a few scattered wisps. The dag remains uncleaned, although there is an old reseal. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania and New York buyers must pay appropriate sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges. |
