| Description: A group of young girls learn various needlework techniques (from horizontal loom work to knitting) under the instruction of two French women. On the blackboard, over a map of Iran and Algeria (colonies of France), is a musical ditty that praises work over idleness. Moulin's embossed initials are on lower right corner of original mount. Moulin went to Algeria in early March 1856 with Achille Quinet's son as his assistant and literally a ton of photographic baggage. He returned to France with about a thousand negatives, both glass plates and stereo views. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania and New York buyers must pay appropriate sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges. |
