Description:

Early and rare image and beautiful print from this important amateur photographer, often credited with the invention of the carte-de-visite. Provenance: from an album of Roger Comte du Manoir, who was a founding member of the SFP in 1854. Another copy of this image is in the St. Louis Museum of Art. There is a small professionally repaired tear at the top left, which is only visible from the verso.
