Description:
The bridge at Orthez was one of the most important and photographed landmarks in the Pyrenees. With the photographer's red inked signature and publisher Theophile Marx's blindstamp on the mount. Marx has written in the title and negative number (22) in mauve ink on the recto of the mount. Marx, a friend of J.J.Heilmann, published the work of Heilmann, Maxwell Lyte, Stewart, Langlume and Denisse. He worked out of Pau and popularized the work of these Pyrennees photographers. A recent Christie's auction had an image by this photographer sell for approximately $6000.
