This important nude study by one of the masters of theater photography is a true rarity. Size includes black photographic border. Signed and editioned (2/25) in gray pencil on recto of the photograph in the lower margins. Also three of the photographer's information labels on the verso. Perhaps used as an exhibition print and then given as a gift to his friend Albert Nye. It is doubtful that Waldman ever completed his editions on any of his images before he died in 1981. According to the archive records, only 15 prints of the planned edition of 25 were ever made in this size. To quote Carol Greunke, Archivist for the Max Waldman Archive, "WOW! you have bought a great collection! Albert was one of Max's best friends, and I knew him as well. Max had given Albert some of his best work, and the best quality prints as Albert knew what was good. You have some of his best prints, as his favorite paper was discontinued in the mid seventies, and he used what he had for his favorite images. All these prints were made by Max at the same time as the negatives." Provenance: photographer; friend and fellow photographer Albert Nye; Caroline Nye (daughter). In new contemporary black frame.
Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
