Lovely portrait of a Japanese couple kneeling on a tatami mat. She turns slightly toward the Samurai who holds a fan in his hands, and has a sword in his waistband and one behind him mounted on a stand. Probably recased in leather from the traditional Japanese kiri wood case; inside the lid is a pearl, attached later. Found in Chile.
