Description:

Signed and titled in pencil on verso of mount. The famed Guggenheim was finally completed amidst considerably controversy in 1959, which is probably went this image and print were made. George Richmond Hoxie (1907-1984) was editor of Minicam magazine and a popular Salon judge and participant in the 1940s-50s. A master of the Photographic Society of America, he had a studio in Oxford, OH, and taught photography at the Winona School of Photography, Miami University, and the University of Cincinnati. His work is in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, NY Museum of Modern Art, and the George Eastman House.
