Description: The original negatives were made on August 31, 1886. The interview was published in the Journal Illustre of 5 Sept. 1886. This is generally considered the first "photo-interview", and, as such, is an exceedingly important and rare historical document. A series of four photographs from this important early documentation of this interview. Exceedingly rare even in the somewhat later prints still made by Paul Nadar himself. Paul Nadar (1856-1940) was the son of Felix Nadar. He explored the potential of the "snapshot" and the new Kodak cameras and eventually took over the business from his famous father. These are four images from the series of 27 in the collection of the Bibliotheque Nationale and illustrated in Francoise Helbrun, Maria Morris Hambourg and Philippe Neagu, Nadar--Les Annees Creatrices: 1854-1860, fig.120-127, pp.163-164. It should also be noted that the two related lots in the first Andre Jammes auction, both sold into six figures at today's currency exchange rates. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania and New York buyers must pay appropriate sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
