On the verso is written in French that this is the painter "Eugene Favier, 1897" and the number 3428. The image is an odd one with the painter posed in a frame with one hand placed on his head and an easel and brushes held by the other hand just outside the ornate goldleaf frame. Some paintings can be seen to the rear of the image, so it is probably his studio and this may even be a self portrait.

Eugene Joseph Georg Favier was born 1860 and was a painter and printmaker. His subjects included landscapes, nudes and portraits.
