Running away from the States, Anger arrived in Paris in the late '50s, where he quickly met Jean Cocteau who introduced him to every one. Anger started a movie based on the famous sado-masochistic novel "Histoire d'O" which stopped after only six days shooting. Nevertheless, he had met his publisher, Jean-Jacques Pauvert. Hollywood Babylon has been a great influence to a lot of people, including numerous French writers.
