| Description: Baldus' most famous and perhaps rarest image in salt. See: Daniel, The Photographs of Edouard Baldus, dust jacket cover and pl.37; Jammes and Janis, The Art of French Calotype, pl.77. Daniel only mentions one other salt copy that is in the NY Metropolitan Museum. As he describes the image: "Nowhere does Baldus more seductively interpret the combination of water, light, and atmosphere than in Entrance to the Port, Boulogne, where elegantly engineered jetties guide ships past the scruffy shoreline into the town's protective harbor and out again to the Channel waters." Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania and New York buyers must pay appropriate sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges. |
