Description:

Artist's credit/agency stamp on verso, annotated "les six jours" (the six days) in French in unknown hand on verso. The Velodrome d'Hiver, or 'Vel d'Hiv' for short, was a celebrated annual 6-day bicycle race in Paris. Provenance: from the estate of Georges Garcin. Garcin (French, born in Morocco, died 1995), who was a well-known fashion photographer in the 1950s and 1960s who worked principally for Harper's Bazaar in London and Jour de France in Paris. In the course of his lengthy career, he broadly collected the works of contemporaries that he admired. Much of his photographic collection was dispersed at Paris auction (Piasa, 9 May 2007); the iconic Cartier-Bresson Banks of the Marne from Garcin's estate was auctioned by Christie's King Street in May 2008.

Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
