A rare and very large heliogravure by Charles Nègre. This is one of the very rare prints made by Negre, and not one of the still rare ones printed later by Andre Jammes. A dark open portal adds a distinctive quality to the image. Size relates only to the image. Printed in the margins of the plate: "Cathédrale de Chartres, côté occidental, porte latérale de droite, XIIe siècle.
