About This Image
Cartier-Bresson's original inscription and signature was actually cut off the photograph. The parties that owned it were apparently embarrassed about selling it. A fine original print though from the original negatives made during Cartier-Bresson's lifetime. The Cartier-Bresson foundation executive director has told me that she does not have any problems with the sale of this print. These are very reasonably priced at well below half the normal retail for a late signed print. A scarce image.See: Cartier-Bresson, Man and Machine, p.76; Henri Cartier-Bresson, The Man, the Image, and the World: A Retrospective, pl.146. © Henri Cartier-Bresson/Magnum Photos.
