About This Image
Image is of a little boy, with thumb tucked in belt and wearing checkered pants typical of the era, sitting in a straight back chair. Close inspection of his expression reveals he may have just recovered from a crying jag as he finally submits to the camera's demands. Handwritten in French in beautiful calligraphy on verso "Juillet 1850." Provenance: Christie's London, May 1999.
