Signed, titled and dated in pencil on the recto in the lower margin, and with photogrtapher's monogram and date on the recto of the image. Marked B.O.T. (bromoil transfer). With three salon stickers and Presser's stamps on the verso.Born in 1900, Gustav, or Gustave, Presser was an Austrian photographer who was very active in the 1920-30s salons, having shown in the Paris, Madrid, Chicago, Princeton, Vienna, London, Toronto, Barry (Wales), Irish (Dublin), Krakow, Bombay, Chinese and Japanese salons, as well as many others including at The Camera Pictorialists of Los Angeles show (several times), which was held at both the Los Angeles Museum and the De Young Memorial Museum (San Francisco). He lived in Vienna and was adapt at alternative processes, including bromoil, bromoil transfer and carbon prints. Presser's nudes were included in "Die Aktphotographie", which was published by Verlag Gottschammel und Hammer in Wien (Vienna) in 1939. His work also appeared in the 1936 American Annual of Photography. He is in the Auer & Auer database of photographers.He died during WWII in 1939. There is some indication that he might have been Jewish and could have died during Nazi occupation.
