Tracing its origins to the 14th century, rue de l'Arbalète was initially known as rue de la Porte-de-l'Arbalète. Renamed to rue de l'Arbalète in 1844, it reached its current form in 1924 with the opening of its final section, connecting rue Mouffetard and rue des Patriarches.
