About This Image
Photographer's Prague stamp on verso. Some thumbnail-like marks in the print. Jindrich Marco was born in Czechoslovakia in 1921. In April 1945, Marco began to photograph in the recently liberated city of Budapest, Hungary, documenting the return to normal life in this city and then in other various war-torn European cities, such as Dresden, Berlin and Warsaw. His work was used by many top publications of the day, including Svelt v Obrzech (World in Pictures). He also photographed the first Arab-Israeli war. In 1967 his book, "Please Buy My New Song", was published by Artia. The publication was a powerful photographic document about Europe and the Middle East after WWII.
