Wenner was a French pictorialist from Epernay, who was active in the salons of the 1920-30s and experimented with alternative processes.Wenner's address is listed as 5, Boulevard des Pont Neufs, Epernay, France. The photographer's work appears in the 1921 "Photograms of the Year". Wenner's "The Chasm" was singled out by the editors of the 1922 Photo-era magazine as one of the pictures "which make a greater appeal to us than others." F. J. Mortimer, a photographer himself and the editor of Photograms, notes, "…in 'Moutons sur la Falaise' (XLVI.), L. Wenner does mean us to regard the shepherd. Neither the landscape nor its effect amounts to much; even the sheep are subservient to the shepherd, and the idea is, in fact, negligible."Wenner is also listed in Auer & Auer's database.
