About This Image

The Mullick people of Behar are a Suni Muslim tribe. From Vol. 1 of the important and rare early illustrated book, The People of India, vol. 1, edited by Dr. John Forbes and Sir John William Kaye, and published by Wm. H. Allen & Co., London from 1868-75. Text written by Col. Meadows Taylor. This ambitious work was intended to document the races and tribes of Hindustan. It was originally prepared under the authority of the Government of India, and reproduced by order of the Secretary of State for India. Most of the images in the publication are thought to have been made by the firm of Robertson, Bourne, and Shepherd, but as many as a dozen other photographers are also believed to have contributed to the project. With a sheet of descriptive letterpress text attached. Small worm holes in the print.

Most U.S. domestic Fed Ex ground shipping (Media Mail for books) is free of charge except for larger and heavier items, or unless the buyer wants express shipping (email us your requests for the latter). International shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their local customs duties and taxes, which will be charged by Fed Ex, which will contact the client prior to delivery.
